Say if you were to drive for a few hours, have some drinks, call it a night, then repeat the cycle, that would be perfectly acceptable, would it not? Maybe a little alcoholic, but still acceptable.

With that in mind, enjoy the scenic drives and the tasty spirits that come with a trip along the Route des Rhums.Continue

Welcome to Tuscany.

Wherever you turn, a picture perfect scenery awaits. Not accidentally, this place is the backdrop in many a movie, painting, book and dream. To talk about it, one has to use superlatives and even then it is difficult to capture the essence. Continue

However, the highway has more than beauty: it is an impressive feat of engineering, dug out of Maui’s precipitous coastline by hand tools.Continue

Scenic Rim Drive; Crater Lake, Oregon

Scenic Rim Drive; Crater Lake, Oregon

The rich blue color is memorizing.  Visitors often stand at the rim staring down upon the water like it’s a crystal ball that will reveal their destiny.  Crater Lake is considered the cleanest lake on the planet and the deepest lake in the United States at 1,943 feet (592 meters) deep, hence its dramatic color.

The lake sits atop a 7,700 year old and 12,000 foot (3,600m) tall volcano that collapsed inward on itself.  Over the years, rain and snow melt slowly formed the pristine water found at Crater Lake, which has no other inlets such as rivers or streams.

Volcanic activity has shaped other parts of the park such as Wizard Island, a popular sight near the southwest shore.  The outer sides of the volcano are covered with forest and meadows make it an excellent home to animals and plants. Continue
